About
Welcome! I am Tasha Tyrell-Williams, founder of Unique Journey Counseling Services LCSW PLLC.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over two decades of experience. In my practice I work with adults, specializing in work with couples, addressing a range of relationship challenges and traumas.
I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University and hold advanced certifications in Trauma through the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis and Couples Therapy through Adelphi University. To further complement my relational work, I became a Certified Sex Therapist through the Modern Sex Therapy Institute and later earned credentialing as an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. This pathway has deepened my ability to offer an integrative and holistic approach to the individuals and couples I support.
Earlier in my career, I worked in child welfare, healthcare, and the early intervention sector, as well as in various community mental health settings supporting individuals with severe mental illness and complex trauma histories. During my tenure in community mental health, I had the privilege of supervising and training other therapists.
These cumulated experiences have illuminated the immense value of being “present” with someone in the fullness of their humanity. This awareness has become the cornerstone of my passion to be with someone on their Unique Journeyto emotional wellness.
Areas of Practice
My approach in the therapeutic relationship integrates various evidence based theoretical perspectives. Modalities include a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, mindfulness, emotionally focused therapy, and narrative therapy. My therapeutic style is relationally transparent, affirming, conversational, and curious. My clinical expertise spans a range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD disorders.
How Can I Support You?
Couples Therapy
Together, we will examine the conflictual patterns that emerge between partners, exploring the roots of eroded trust, intimacy concerns, and communication challenges that often fuel disconnection in relationships.
Sex Therapy
Together, we will address distress or conflict related to sexual dysfunction involving desire, arousal, or pleasure. For couples, this work can support the development or redefinition of their sexual style and connection. For individuals, it offers space to explore and embrace a deeper understanding of their sexuality.
Individual Therapy
Together, we will examine the connections between unresolved trauma and past experiences as they relate to present-day functioning, and work to identify, explore, and understand how they influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
