welcome TO your

Unique Journey offers mental health services to support you on your wellness journey.

Welcome! I am Tasha Tyrell-Williams, founder of Unique Journey Counseling Services LCSW PLLC.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over two decades of experience. In my practice I work with adults, specializing in work with couples, addressing a range of relationship challenges and traumas.

I graduated from New York University with my master’s degree in Social Work. I am Trauma Certified through Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis and completed certification in Couples Therapy through Adelphi University. To compliment my work around relationships I am completing certification through Modern Sex Therapy Institute to become an AASECT (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapist) Certified Sex Therapist.

The earlier part of my career I worked in child welfare, spent several years in healthcare, early intervention sector, and worked in various community mental health settings with the underserved. During my time working in a community mental health setting, I had the privilege to supervise and train other therapists.

These cumulate experiences have illuminated the immense value of being “present” with someone in the fullness of their humanity. This awareness became the cornerstone of my passion to be with someone on their Unique Journey to emotional wellness.

Areas of Practice

My approach in the therapeutic relationship integrates various evidence based theoretical perspectives. Modalities include a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, mindfulness, emotionally focused therapy, and narrative therapy. My therapeutic style is relationally transparent, affirming, conversational, and curious. My clinical expertise spans a range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD disorders.

Our couples therapy sessions have become a tool of necessity. Whether it’s been about issues with parenting or other delicate issues like infidelity. Her commitment to helping us find the solutions is forever present. She has this perceptive ability to know what questions to ask and when to ask them. We feel lucky to have Tasha to support us. We’ve recommended her to friends and family hoping she would provide the same support she’s giving us to them as well. We can’t thank her enough for what she has done for our relationship.

- M & S Mcgeachy

"Working with Tasha over the last year has become a deeply embedded part of my healing and personal care. I always feel heard and seen during our sessions and she has been instrumental in helping me parse through the chaos of life as a parent, a busy creative, and a survivor of trauma and abuse."

- Ashley S.

"Tasha has been extremely helpful during one of my life's most difficult periods. Tasha offers a safe space without judgment which is needed when vulnerably sharing deeply personal matters."

- S. Walker

"Without judgment, Tasha helps me navigate everything from the pressures of life, work, anxiety, family, love, grief-- and everything in between. I really do not know where I would be without her. I am forever thankful. It's simple, everyone needs a Tasha in their life."

- Maxine A.

"For over a year, my wife and I met with Tasha to go over some hugely fundamental issues in our marriage. Tasha was able to facilitate our ineffective and dishonest communication and transform it into communication that sustains a long and fruitful marriage."

- Francisco

"When my wife and I sought out her help, we didn't know what to expect. We went in thinking our issues were one thing and she opened our eyes to see that our issue lied somewhere else. Our transparency and communication have greatly improved in months of meeting with her. Counseling with her has been greatly helpful and we recommend her for all marriage counseling."

- Steve & Lenise
